Job Description

Our client is a global supplier of sophisticated Data and Power solutions to the Aerospace and Military Land System markets. The organisation continues to capitalise on its success and has a requirement to expand its capability within the FRES Integrated Project Team.  The role will be to provide expert Mechanical design support to the Engineering Team and provide designs to cost.

Job Requirements

Key responsibilities:

·To perform mechanical stress and tolerance analysis, thermal calculations and FMEAs for designs generated by the Engineering Team

·To provide innovative design solutions to a target cost

·To write clear and professional reports as required and ensure all project documentation conforms to company standards of content and storage.

·To specify the design of harnesses as well as an array of structural and electro-mechanical and HMI products.

·To prepare estimates of work, concept designs, bills of materials and technical response documents to support bid activities and proposals to customers. To then be able to generate a finished design based on the proposed design and cost data.

·Provide input to design specifications to fulfil product design expectations and customer requests

·Provide information to aid project planning and costing and to provide time and cost performance feedback to the IPT Lead.

·Provide design support, in terms of appropriate fault finding, diagnosis and proposed solutions as appropriate.

·Produce CAD mechanical and electrical drawings to the company standard. To generate BOMs and design/drawing changes as required. To aid Marketing by generating presentation quality images of product as required.

·Provide a positive contribution to the Engineering team’s brainstorming, design review and decision making processes

·Contribute to any customer or UEED demonstrations and/or presentations

·To challenge constructively, where necessary, any task which is believed not to be in the best interests of the company or its customers

·To capture, review, challenge or amend project technical requirements throughout the duration of the project as appropriate.

·Maintain a continuous assessment of new technologies and procedures which may be appropriate to be incorporated into UEED products and processes to enable company growth and development.

·Aid in any staff training as directed.
